Wanted: Volunteer Butterfly Recorders
March 20th, 2024
We’re looking for a volunteer wildlife recorder to help us record butterflies and moths on Warton Crag.
The butterfly recorder will need to walk a transect, walking ~2km slowly across and up Warton Crag Local Nature Reserve once a week between April and September (on a dry, still day).
This site has been monitored for over 30 years, and these records are important in managing the site for rare species.
This volunteer opportunity would be suitable for someone comfortable walking on rough terrain, and would be easiest for someone flexible and fairly local.
It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting out, a transect is a brilliant way to learn, and we can give you some support to start with.
