Landscape Trust: Mawsons in Autumn
Mawsons, located in Silverdale, was once part of the Grey Walls Estate. It is believed to have been designed by Thomas Mawson, a famous Victorian and Edwardian landscape architect. The garden is only open to the public for special events, so this is a rare opportunity to explore this fascinating site.
Please note that the garden has uneven ground, narrow paths and steps.
There are no toilets available at the venue – the nearest public toilets are on Emesgate Lane (30 min walk from the gardens).
No dogs please.
The garden can only be accessed on foot, which is an approx. 5 minute walk from the road. There is no parking at the site and nearby parking on Lindeth Road / Hollins Lane is very limited – we encourage lift sharing or walking to the site if possible.
The meeting point is ca. 250yds along the road from Gibraltar Farm, past Lindeth Tower towards Jenny Brown’s Point at the signed entrance to the Ridgeway Park Estate.
Directions from Silverdale Railways Station can be provided (40 min walk).
This is a joint event with the Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape team and the Arnside/Silverdale Landscape Trust.
This event is FREE for Landscape Trust members. Non-members are welcome, and a donation to the Landscape Trust would be appreciated.
There will be a 10am session and a 1pm session.
