South Lakeland District Council and Lancaster City Council are working together to prepare a dedicated Development Plan Document (DPD) for the whole of the Arnside & Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The DPD will form part of both authorities’ Local Plans. It will identify sites for new housing and employment to meet local needs and will set out planning policies to ensure that development reflects the AONB designation.
A document setting out the Issues that the DPD will need to address and the Options for doing so, as well as a series of maps setting out site options suggested to us for consideration for development or protection, has now been published for consultation. The document asks various questions that we hope the communities in the AONB and other key stakeholders will answer.
Consultation events are being held in six main communities in the AONB to enable people to ask questions and discuss the issues and options with Development Plans Officers and members of the AONB Management team. All events will run from 2pm until 7pm.
