fingerpost The planning system not only has an important role to play in preventing inappropriate development from harming the special qualities of the AONB but also has a role in facilitating appropriate and sustainable forms of development.

The Arnside & Silverdale AONB Executive Committee is a non-statutory consultee on planning matters. The responsibility for planning policy and decision-making rests with the two local planning authorities – South Lakeland District Council and Lancaster City Council
