It was another packed house for the AONB Partnership’s Annual Conference which took place on 23rd January at the Gaskell Hall in Silverdale.
We were delighted to welcome Dame Fiona Reynolds, Master, Emmanuel College, Cambridge and member of the Glover Review panel as our keynote speaker. Her presentation on the ‘Fight for Beauty’ – the history of protecting our landscapes and the importance of continuing to protect those things that have huge value but which money can’t buy – was truly inspirational.
Lucy Barron, AONB Manager, Jo Sayers and the team from the Back on our Map (BOOM) project, and Glen Swainson from Natural England also gave really interesting presentations on
- the achievements of the AONB Team and wider Partnership
- the BOOM project and its aspirations for this area
- the future management of Gait Barrows National Nature Reserve.
“Stimulating & inspirational”, “makes me feel privileged to live in an area where so many passionate people are working for our natural environment” , “hearing Dame Fiona speak was a real treat”– just some of the excellent feedback received.
