Learn more about the landscape and heritage through walks, talks and other events. Volunteer to help at events, to carry out surveys or practical conservation tasks. Become a champion for the AONB by raising awareness in your own community and by supporting local projects.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help build our photo library, providing us with a range of high-quality digital images which reflect the special qualities of the Arnside & Silverdale AONB and the public’s enjoyment of the area.
These images will be used in future promotional material (eg: website, strategic documents, leaflets and on social media)
Volunteers must be able to
- use a camera competently
- follow a brief
- work independently
- have a good eye for detail
- have good people skills
How much time do I need to commit?
This is a flexible opportunity and you can give as much or as little time as you’d like! You can just take your camera when you go out for a walk and capture those magic moments or help us in a more formal way by attending specific events and activities.
What type of photographs are you looking for?
At the moment we are particularly interested in high resolution photos of:
- bee orchids
- common spotted orchids
- dark red helleborine
- yellow flag iris
- broad leaved helleborine
- greater butterfly orchids
- any dragonflies & damselflies
- cinnabar moth caterpillars
- Northern brown argus
- high brown fritillary
- small skipper
- green fritillary
- house martins
- red deer
- dark skies in the AONB
- Wildlife friendly farming (ideas here: Farm Wildlife)
- A wide range of different audiences enjoying the AONB (please ensure you have permission to share images with us)
If you are photographing wildlife in the AONB be sure not to disturb either the species you are photographing or other wildlife in the area.
