Stunning limestone pavements, ancient woodlands, intimate orchards and meadows and an impressive coastline make Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape one of England's finest landscapes. The work of the National Landscape Partnership aims to conserve and enhance this extraordinary place now and for the future.
Cyclists welcome!
June 16th, 2015
Cycling is one of the best ways to experience the sights and sounds of the Arnside & Silverdale AONB, so we were delighted to welcome around 50 cyclists on Saturday as they were completing the third leg of the inaugural ride of the new Morecambe Bay Cycle Way.
Balloons, bunting and even yellow bikes – Tour de France style – along with an enthusiastic flag-waving crowd greeted the cyclists as they arrived in Arnside.
The route, along traffic-free routes and quiet lanes from Walney Island to Glasson Dock, passes through Arnside & Silverdale and takes in some of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in the UK.
The route is aimed at families and leisure cyclists who want to go at their own pace and discover the distinctive culture, wildlife and food of the area, so there are lots of opportunities to stop – with a loo, a brew and a view every 10 miles! Why not give it a go!
