Stunning limestone pavements, ancient woodlands, intimate orchards and meadows and an impressive coastline make Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape one of England's finest landscapes. The work of the National Landscape Partnership aims to conserve and enhance this extraordinary place now and for the future.
Celebrating our special landscapes
September 23rd, 2019
Saturday 21 September was the first day of Landscapes for Life week 2019, a national celebration of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This year is the 70th anniversary of Parliament passing the pioneering legislation that paved the way for the designation of the UK’s 46 AONBs, and to commemorate this milestone, the National Association for AONBs commissioned a brand new poem by the Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage.
He read the poem, Fugitives, for the first time at the Landscapes for Life Week National Moment celebration on Arnside Knott, overlooking Morecambe Bay in Arnside & Silverdale AONB.
