Stunning limestone pavements, ancient woodlands, intimate orchards and meadows and an impressive coastline make Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape one of England's finest landscapes. The work of the National Landscape Partnership aims to conserve and enhance this extraordinary place now and for the future.
Celebrating 50 years of the Arnside and Silverdale AONB
January 5th, 2023
The AONB Partnership Team were delighted to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Arnside & Silverdale AONB on the 8th December 2022. We celebrated at Leighton Hall, the venue for several of the meetings held during the process of originally designating the landscape many years ago.
After a warm welcome from our Executive Committee Vice Chair, Cllr Helen Chaffey, we enjoyed a lovely meal featuring locally sourced ingredients, followed by an after-dinner speech from the Landscape Trusts’ own Fiona Allan.
We were joined by many of the people who have worked so hard to protect and enhance this special place over the years – including four of the people who were there when the AONB was first designated. We were pleased to present Joan Jackson, Roger Cartwright, John Wilson and Suzie Reynolds with a token of thanks for their many years’ dedication to our wonderful landscape.
