transport: bus Great things have happened to buses - with new modern designs, comfortable seats, low floors for easy access, quiet and fuel efficient! Fares are modest and there is a reasonably good network of services available - however commercial services will only ever serve reasonably large centres of demand. If you can time your journey to fit an existing service then the bus is a really cost effective and efficient means of travel. The AONB Service works hard with local authority partners to retain existing services and deliver new routes and opportunities. The Sustainable Development Fund has supported the Sunday Bittern Bus Service within the AONB. Further opportunities to develop the route and service provision are part of the AONB Service's ambitions for the AONB. Future development of demand responsive services are being developed around the country and feasibility work could be carried out by the local village communities to develop a community led demand responsive bus service in and around the AONB. SDF would be an ideal source of funding to kick start the work. Click the link to look at information on UK travel on bus, coach and train network.
