The Limestone Heritage Project was
launched in November 2001 and started work on the ground initially in
March 2002, with the restoration of five walls in the AONB.
The Works phase of the Project runs until March
2007 and over the intervening five and a half years has delivered a comprehensive package
of heritage conservation projects throughout the Arnside/Silverdale AONB.
More than 100 individual conservation schemes were originally
identified across the whole AONB and cover four distinct programme areas.
Over the succeeding years the AONB Service will promote the value of the Limestone Heritage of the area
and seek to protect the valuable contribution the Project has made to the long term security of that Heritage.
