Arnside/Silverdale AONB Annual Conference
The 2007 AONB Conference will take place at The Heron Theatre and Beetham School
Friday 26th October 2007. This years AONB Conference starts at 10 am.

|
|
We are pleased that Professor Adrian Phillips will be making the keynote address at the conference
in the morning, supported by other talks on the Marine Environment and "Sustainable Living and Heating"
Following a local produce lunch, the afternoon will consist of 4 group sessions to allow you to express
your "Points of View" on the future management of the AONB.
The AONB Executive Committee have commenced the review of the AONB Management Plan on behalf of the
Area's four local authorities. This is an early opportunity for all interested parties to speak their mind
on the content of the Management Plan that will come into effect in 2009! Many of the AONB partner organisations
will have a say in the extent of the review.... however the AONB Conference gives you your chance to put forward
your "Point of View" on the future right from the start!
Please phone 01524 761034 or email us at info@arnsidesilverdaleaonb.org.uk by the 12th October
to book your seat at this years AONB Conference - space is limited and we need to know how many people we will
be catering for with the local produce lunch.

Arnside/Silverdale AONB Conferences past
Arnside/Silverdale AONB Discovery Day
The 2006 AONB Conference took the form of a "Discovery Day"
held at the W.I. Hall Arnside on Thursday 6th April 2006. The idea behind the "Discovery Day" is to allow
local people to drop in and look at the work of various partners organisations and look at some examples
of works.

|
The event attracted stong local support. Many of the AONB partner organisations had stands at the Conference
and the slide talks were well attended.
Guest speaker, photographer Jon Sparks gave a very personal view of the
AONB, illustrated with many stunning pictures. Unfortunately we did experience some technical problems with the
computer hardware which delayed the start of Jon's talk somewhat - but it was all worth waiting for! |

Every year the Annual Conference format alternates between the "Discovery Day" style of event as in 2006
and a more formal conference with talks, presentations and workshop/discussion groups. The 2007 Conference will
be held on 26th October at Beetham School.
The 2005 Conference took place on 16th February at the Archbishop Hutton School in Warton.
A mixture of talks and workshop sessions were enjoyed by about 80 participants, with a smaller number
taking part in the optional guided walk on Warton Crag.
A buffet lunch was provided, with catering by the cafe staff from RSPB.
You can check out the proceedings of the workshops by following this link.

The 2004 Conference was held in the Gaskell Hall, Silverdale on the 21st May as an
"open house" event to launch the newly adopted AONB Management Plan. The event was supported by many of
the organisations that make up the AONB Partnership. A steady stream of visitors enjoyed a range of
displays and stalls. Tea, Coffee and cake were available and an AONB Video presentation was shown.
Lots of people made the effort to visit the Conference and enjoyed the event.
30th January 2003 marked the first AONB Conference, which looked at the past/present/future of
the Arnside/Silverdale AONB. The event showcased the work that had been done in the area
by the AONB Service and the Limestone Heritage Project and the work of the
Executive Committee.
