AONB Executive Committee - 25th April 2007

AONB Executive offers to carry out the review on behalf of the Local Authorities.
(Lancashire & Cumbria CCs, Lancaster City Council, South Lakeland District Council)

AONB Executive Committee - 25th July 2007

Authority to carry out the review granted and Executive issues the required Notice under section 90(i) of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act.

Strategic Environmental Assessment

requirement announced and SEA work commences.

Re-appraise the existing Vision statements

The Overall and eight theme specific Visions assessed for continued relevance.
Two new visions are added on Marine Environment and Renewable Energy/Sustainability.

Consultation on the scope of the Review and the Draft SEA Scoping Report.

Appraise consultation outcomes. Report to stakeholders.

Sign off revised Vision Statements and prepare draft Issues revision for approval

Appraise consultation outcomes - decide on extent of review and if amendment of the existing plan is needed. Report to stakeholders. Formally adopt the Vision Statements.

Write Policy Responses and amend Objectives

Identify the amendments required and re-write Management Objectives as necessary. Policy Responses introduced into draft to facilitate completion of SEA.

Circulate draft form of Management Objectives section of the reviewed Plan to members and circulate the outline SEA and AA assessment reports for comment.

Carry out SEA/AA Assessment of amended Objectives

Test and review the Management Plan Policy Responses and the Management Objectives against SEA Objectives and criteria and complete Appropriate Assessment process.

Review of Management Plan - Draft Plan written

Complete a draft of the Management Plan and Environmental Report ready to circulate to Technical Officers Group prior to Executive Meeting of 22nd October.

AONB Executive Committee - 22nd October 2008

Circulate draft form of Management Plan and Environmental Report to members. Agree the distribution of the draft documents for public and formal partner consultation.

Carry out Consultation October - December 2008

Public and Stakeholder consultation on both Draft Environmental Report
and the draft Management Plan
(including online website consultation)

Appraise Stakeholders of the outcome of the Public and Partner Consultation

Statement of how Environmental Report findings have influenced Plan Review

Final Overview of Plan by Natural England - April - May 2009

Notification received that the Plan documents meet the legislative requirements for AONB Management Plans.

Adoption of Plan by Local Authorities - May & June 2009

Confirmation received that the Plan documents were adopted by all local authority partners.

New AONB Management Plan published - June 2009

Public launch event held June 17th at the AONB Annual Conference

Review Reports & Summary of the new Plan Published - July 2009

Documents submitted to the Secretary of State once final Action Plan agreed.

Implementation of Plan - July 2009 - June 2014

Monitor and report on progress with AONB Action Plan.
