The AONB is a great place for primary school children to experience and learn about their natural environment and offers many opportunities for learning in other areas of the curriculum too.
The AONB Unit can work with primary schools in the following ways:
- provide site specific teachers' guides for Warton Crag Local Nature Reserve and Coldwell Parrock nature reserve to help teachers make the most of their visits
- lead guided visits for groups to specific sites within the AONB
- visit local schools to talk about the AONB and its special qualities
- advise on developing and finding funding for school grounds or school environmental initiatives
All staff that lead visits are experienced staff who are CRB checked.
Funding may be available for school environmental projects through the AONB Sustainable Development Fund.
