Species-rich neutral grassland is a UK priority habitat and during the 20th century suffered a dramatic decline, largely due to changes in agricultural practices. It is now an extremely uncommon habitat in the north west of England, restricted in distribution and continuing to be lost in some areas. |
| The initial aim of the group will be to secure the long term management of the meadows under the management of the individual partners and act as a source of information for farmers and other landowners wishing to manage or restore their own meadows. It will also act as a link to connect landowners with suitable resources to deliver management work where appropriate as well as carry out survey work to monitor existing sites and identify potential new sites | |
