Support Overview

 The Arnside and Silverdale AONB benefits from a strong local support network, that is firmly rooted within the local community:

  • The ASAONB Landscape Trust - a registered charity with 850 members.
  • Bittern Countryside CIC - a social enterprise - registered in England - Company No: 6363720
  • Local community groups encouraging everyone to know about and enjoy the AONB, its wildlife, scenery and heritage.

The Barnes Charitable Trust manage and maintain the Ashmeadow woodlands, traditional orchards and walled garden for the benefit of residents and visitors to Arnside. 
North Lancs Meadows Group

The aim of the North Lancashire Meadows Group is to establish a partnership to stimulate interest in, and knowledge of local grasslands, and provide assistance if required for maintaining and restoring them in the Arnside and Silverdale AONB.

Lancaster Beekeepers is friendly and growing group of hobbyist beekeepers who meet regularly throughout the year to share experiences and develop their beekeeping skills. 

Lancaster & District Birdwatching Society
Lancaster and District Birdwatching Society covers the whole of the Lancaster District, all of Arnside and Silverdale AONB, the Lune valley up to Leck Fell and around the Kent estuary to include Whitbarrow, Witherslack and Meathop area to the River Winster.
