What do woodlands and forests do for us? The Greenwood Fair sought to give the answers - providing a fun event where everyone could learn about our wonderful woods! Set in the magnificent parkland at Leighton Hall, the event celebrated all things woodland, with an emphasis on heating our homes with wood. Demonstrations of fuel chipping, tree snedding, wood boilers, logging machinery, timber forwarders, woodmisers and chainsaw carving took place during the day. There were guided woodland walks, tree spirit walks, willow weaving, charcoal burning, wood turning carving demonstations, mallet making and even woodfairies wandering amongst the crowds. The event attracted a good number of visitors throughout the whole day, despite the weather being rather plain and overcast with a few light showers of rain. The opportunity to try a take-away venison burger proved popular along with more usual fayre from the Tea Room at Leighton Hall. |
